Whoop! Whoop! Friday Update!

I just love Fridays, don't you? I think it's my favorite day of the week - followed by Saturday. Then I pretty much hate the rest. LoL ;-)

Okey Dokey, it's time for my Friday Update! Not a whole lot going on with me, so not a whole to update on.

1. Publisher has had my submission for exactly 20 days. I don't have my hopes up about this but they say: "the longer they have it the better...up to four months or more." *Sigh* I'll try to have a positive outlook here, but it's tough.

2. BTTB (abbreviated name for another book) is currently going through it's 5th (yes, 5th) rewrite, and this one is a doosey. My beta pointed out a few serious kinks in the story, so this is major overhaul territory we are in. And it's completely new territory for me, so I hope I'm not going to screw it up too badly. Of course, now I know why the agent rejected this - it was a hot mess.

3. AAG (another abbreviation) has gotten no words added since my spring break marathon *sigh*. That's too bad because out of everything I've written, this story is my fav. Sometimes I wish there were more hours in the day, more days in the week, more weeks in the year...

Nothing else is going on in my writing life. I'm pretty lame ;-) The weekend will be busy with two trips to Greencastle to see horse #1 and I'm sure we will have to visit horse #2 as well. Saddle up cowboy! Even though it's the weekend, it's going to be a long one.

Wow. Pink.

I just had to say that quick. Now I'll read your post. Morning Justine.

Hey, someone spilled Pepto on your page!

Kidding, looks great. I finished chapter 2 of my currently unnamed manuscript last night, so I'm feeling pretty proud -except for the fact that my new chapters are a lot shorter than the chapters in my completed ms. I'll probably take the weekend off from writing to get reading done. I've got two mss from besties to read (yes, yours, too. I wanted to read it earlier, but I was in the ZONE).

I'm crossing my fingers for the one at the agent. I hope everything comes up roses for you!

Okay, the last I heard you had a full MS out to an agent and you got rejected. Since when do you have something submitted to a publisher? Are you represented? Is it a novel? This must be a separate project from the one you were talking about over at NB's forums.

Of course congratulations! This just caught me by surprise.

Pepto...lol. You crack me up Christi. I've been playing with the new blooger templates ;-) I haven't had the chance to get any reading done either...again - I need more hours in the day!

Thanks Matt. Let me see if I can clarify. I had one full ms at an agent, it got rejected. I got a full request from a publisher (not through an agent, through a submission I did) for a different ms. A shorter (46K) contemporary romance.

Happy Friday! Love the pretty pink background, it's nice for spring.

I can relate with #2 on your list. Both of my manuscripts have some issues (some bigger than others) that are making this revising/rewriting process a challenge. I wish you best of luck on all your projects. :)

Good luck with the publisher! I commend you for going back and doing that fifth revision. How much time do you allow yourself between edits? And, how do you come by a beta reader? I've been pondering this lately before I head back and edit my manuscript (again) and have no idea how to find one. Had crit partners, but that's not really the same thing.

Good luck again!

Hi Justine! I'm a new follower and wanted to say hello. Best of luck with the MS. The waiting game is hard to play! My fingers are crossed for you!

Thank you Kimberly and Nicole. Time between edits depends on the book, really. The one with 5 edits has been done less than a year, and the last three sets of revisions have been done since January - so, not a lot of time I guess.

I found my beta on Nathan Bransfords forum. If your not a member there, you should give it a try. There's a thread for writers looking for beta readers. Good luck!
