Wordle Your MS!

So, I was on Bransforums the other day and I cruised into a forum topic where someone was having trouble picking a title for her book. In order to inspire ideas, she wordled her ms. That got me thinking...what would my word cloud look like if I wordled my ms?

Well...you know I had to find out, so I went to www.wordle.net and did it with BOTH of my completed books. Here's the results:

Know what's funny? I was trying to guess what word would be the most used, and I was like DUH when the cloud came up. FYI...I hadn't picked the names of the H/H to be the most used words. How silly am I? Of course the main characters are going to have the most page time!

Some of the other most used words struck me, though. There are ones in my cloud that I tried NOT to use a lot. Oops! See where that gets ya'. ;-)

Anyhoo - it was fun, and the clouds are pretty. I suggest you do the same to your ms!

Oh...and PS
H A P P Y * B - D A Y to my daughter, Emily, who turns 12 today!!!

Wordles are so much fun and educational too in a classroom. Students can get another perspective on their vocabulary usage. You created two neat ones.

Thanks for the link! I've seen my daughter using it but she wouldn't give me the site...off to have some fun now!

Happy Birthday Em!

And yes Wordle is awesome! Did this for mine a while ago, but yours look very cool. It's interesting to play with the settings and see what words get bigger if you don't eliminate commonly used words.

Happy birthday, Emily!

And thanks for the suggestion! I just spent time I should have spent on something else on wordling my ms and a fanfic I wrote. They look so cool, and it's definitely interesting to see what tone you strike with the words you chose.

Oh, I had SO much fun when I Wordled my MS. Totally helped me see the words I tend to overuse ('Bright' is one, 'back' is another. Geez!) Thanks for sharing, and happy birthday, Emily!

Happy birthday, Emily. I've never used Wordle on my manuscript, but months ago I tried it for my blog. I found out that I use "get" way too much!

I loved Wordling my MS. It helps me pick out which words I need to stop over-using. And it's pretty.
