Learning about Justine: Where have I been?

Have you noticed I haven't been around that much?
Have you noticed I haven't had two Friday updates in a row?
Have you noticed I have been generally out-of-touch?

Where have I been?
WHAT have I been doing?

I'd like to tell you I've been resting on some tropical island.
I'd like to tell you that I've been hold-up in my writing room with the best story ever.
I'd like to tell you that I've snagged an agent and had some sort of breakdown because of it.
I'd like to tell you a lot of things ...

But the truth is, I've been working. The real job.
I love my job, but there is one time of the year when it is CRAZY. Like these past two weeks. For those of you who don't know, I work at a university. Last Friday was the last day of classes and Saturday was graduation. I've been working for seven days straight (even on Mother's Day). By this Friday, I will have worked twelve days straight. Yay.

BUT THAT'S OKAY!

Because NOW it's SUMMER!!!!!! NOW I will have FREE TIME! (whoa ... what's that?). Summer is my most productive time, and for the next twelve weeks I'm planning on making a HUGE SPLASH!

Wanna come?

Tell me, when is your most productive season?

I think I do my best writing (Not content but quantity) from the second week in September right up through the week before Thanksgiving. Then again from right after Jan. when the kids go back up to Spring Break (April) And that's it. Summer is no fun for me. So I have a lot to do right now before the Monster Child gets out of school for the summer.

I'm still pretty busy the next couple months (even though it's summer but I'm going to try and get some writing done (after I make a dent in my responsibilities). That's crazy that you've been so busy! But soon things will calm down and you'll get a break from work!

I'm pretty busy all the time with the kiddos. In fact, this "free time" of which you speak is so far removed from my life it's not even a part of my vocabulary anymore. :)

You're through the worst of it, JD! All down hill from here! Summers are always quieter for me because referrals drop when kids are out of school ... but I'm not really happy about that because my income drops with it :(

I don't have productive seasons, per se...just productive time of day...and that's early morning. As soon as the sun comes up, life just keeps slapping me around.

Jobs come first! I think I'm more productive in winter when I don't have to go outside to do anything.

Ooh, my best friend worked at a university for years. This time of year is crazy there. Best of luck!! I've only been blogging for just over a year, and writing seriously for over two. I'm not sure when I'm most productive. Hmm...probably the winter months, being cooped up with all the snow outside. lol Looking forward to some sun.

My most productive time isn't during the summer. That's when the kids are home. I'm more productive during the school year when I don't have to referee 24/7. ;)

I am a teacher and my summer is around the corner - but still feels far away. I write full time in the summer - because I don't currently have children. I appreciate it very much. The only problem is my office is upstairs and we have no airconditioning - so somtimes I sit with a fan and a wet face cloth, mopping my face all day. But, congratulations. Do you still work in the summer at all, or is it just slower?

I do my best writing Fall/Early Winter. Then Spring comes and I want to play--life gets busy. I do a lot of writing over the summer--but only because I put myself on a minimum word count during the summer.

I'm having trouble focusing these days--lots going on, but I am forcing myself to sit in the chair and write.

And welcome back!

Wooooooo! Yay for summer! Glad the crazy time is over for you. Hmm, I've never really thought too much about seasonal writing!

Summer is my most productive time as well because of working with the kids. Usually I'd be helping with summer school, but there isn't any funding! Boo! Though I'm sure the kids are freaking out with happiness. :P

So far my most productive season has been spring, but I've only been doing this a little while, so we'll see.

This past fall was super-productive. Winter and spring have been a bust--too many illnesses and projects have gobbled up the writing time like rabid termites. I have my fingers crossed for summer.
