Go ahead.
I know you want to push it.
*nudge*
I've been panicking all week! Hence why this is a Friday Freak Out instead of a Friday Update. I'm too busy chewing my nails down to the cuticle to worry about updating anything.
Why, you ask?
Well ... I finished my 2011 NaNo Novel!
And then ... I gave it to my crit partner. *runs and hides*
And I'm terrified.
One: It's a new genre for me (why, OH WHY do I do this to myself??)
Two: I think it blows. But my critters made me finish it. * grumble* Seeing as how I hadn't finished a book for an entire year, I understand where they were coming from. Thank you, Sarah! Thank you, Jaime!
So two months, 80K, and BAM! The new book is done. Too bad it blows.
Anyone want to join the Friday Freak Out? I'm thinking about starting a club. Wait ... DL already did that. ;-)
I shall remain in this mode until I am handed back my book with tons and tons of red marks. Actually, I'm thinking I might just get back a pile of ashes. The critters would be doing me a favor.
Have a great weekend!
And for those who are buried under tons of snow, stay warm!

11 Wonderful Opinions!!!:
Trepidation always leaves us vulnerable, and I'm sure your book does not blow. I will say it might need some encouragement, but it does not blow. So take that thought right out of your head.
Now you need to find something to do instead of chew your nails. Hey, how 'bout you read a book.
No worries. I'm sure it's wonderful. With so much emotion going into writing a work, it's no surprise we tend to be emotional when it's complete. And look at editing as the frosting, lights, and shine!
Best of luck and have a great weekend!
Save the freak out for when you get the manuscript back! Because I bet you'll be pleasantly surprised.
Beautiful JD! Do come out of hiding and embrace the author in you!! Your CPs just adore you and use pink instead of red! LOL! Oh but seriously! WELL DONE YOU!!! Take care

We learn so much from those crits. Even with those who haven't much idea about what we're trying to achieve include a pearl of wisdom if we can bear to search for it. And learning to accept suggestions, and there's always one or two worth acknowledging, well, that's the process of becoming an author isn't it. I'm still getting there, it's a slow, painful business but well worth the effort.
ok, when i pushed the button, it just got bigger... i think that may be metaphorical.
I'm sure your CPs will help, and it's probably not as bad as you think! Congrats!!!
LOL @ Vic. And it's just a draft. They all suck at first.
LOL I'm feeling the same way. I finished my nano novel in November, didn't touch it for two weeks, went through it once and sent it to a beta reader. I really like the middle and the end, but the beginning sucks, I think.
My new WIP - that's the one that I think might be complete crap. I'm gonna finish it anyway but the idea of having someone read it makes my stomach churn.
I'm freaking out because I'm breaking my own rules to write a sequel before the first book is sold. And that's because I got tired of waiting for crits.
I hope yours are good. :-)
My wife helps me avoid most of the "freak-outs". She is my first responder (reader) and with her blessing I can at least survive the waiting period until my critique partners return it with some semblance of sanity! :)
