You tell me...

I know we've got lots of writers out there and lots of readers, too!

So I want to know, what do you like to read? And of course, what do you like to write?

I'll go first! ;-)

I love to read romance. There's nothing better than a mushy story about a man and a woman and a happy ever after. Makes me smile. I also like to read some YA. I say some because I'm super picky in that department. The offspring generally recommends books that I end up loving. Man that kid has good taste. Wonder where she gets it from? *winks*

Above anything, though, I just like a good story. Good pace, good plot, and nothing really sad (cuz I HATE sad. I HATE to cry.) And no matter what, I love as story where the protagonists is a strong and dependent woman (or girl). And of course, there's gotta be a alpha dude in there somewhere, too.

And as for writing, well, I'm all over the place there, too. Originally I was a hardcore romance writer. I've branched out a little since then, trying to get my feet wet (and not drown) in a different pool. I've yet to see if I'm any good in that area. No matter what, I write what comes to me...no matter what kind of story it is. Sometimes a story just has to be told.

Now you tell me folks. Whadoya like? And why?

I read several genres, preferring science fiction, fantasy, and thrillers. I've only written science fiction so far. And adding a female character was tough!

Well, I'm a romance writer hands down.
So of course I do love to read it, but every once in a while I get on a YA kick. I like to throw in some thrillers and a little women's fiction here and there too ( to cleanse the palate) LOL

Love to reread the classics, would write more children and finish those historical novels for grown-ups, only need the time! But it is fun, isn't it.

I likes me some explosions!!! Burn, baby! Burn!!! lol!

I prefer reading books that have very realistic characters. I get weary of novels who have all lovable characters except for the few bad guys.

Love to read everything under the moon: romance, historica, paranormal, adventure, contemp, YA, urban fantasy, etc... But it's true that I like a book better if there's a romantic element;) I write YA in several of the above subgenres.

These days I mostly read YA and MG and I love it. Love, love, love it. Wish there were more hours in the day to read!

Fantasy and sci-fi, almost exclusively. Not so much paranormal or dystopian, but more high fantasy

I read and write mostly mystery novels however, I will read anything and enjoy stepping outside my chosen genre.

I love sad novels. The more of a tearjerker, the better!

I'll read pretty much anything.

And right now I write mostly YA but I'm all over the board as far as genre.

Though I have written a Thriller and Contemporary Adult too so...

I guess my writing is as varied as my reading :) haha

When I'm writing, as I am now, I read mostly nonfiction, and those are usually history of some sort. When I'm not writing, I read to escape, so I toss in a few SF/F novels, or anything else that looks intriguing. I write MG and YA -- from Historical (Ancient China) to off-planet fantasy. My protagonists tend to be strong females and because they are MG or YA, not so interested in the alpha male;-)

To be honest, I'll read anything! When I'm writing, I like to read non-fiction. Anything else stresses me out!
